February, 2011
At this Meeting, Bev Gunderson demonstrated how to paint a scene using a basic application technique. It was the same method used in the Lom Mountain landscape class, and a method anyone can apply to their artwork.

September, 2010
It was our day to honor Cathy Coy. Our program was an interview and PowerPoint of Cathy as she tells of the path to her Vesterheim Gold Medal – her first interest in Rosemaling, the various teachers she has had, her varied Rosemaled projects, etc. She also brought the pieces she has submitted to the show at Vesterheim for which she has earned the points needed for her VGM.

Our 8th Annual Kofte Day was at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Villa Park, Illinois. Our special guest was Norm Troger. The meeting was followed by a short program.

Sunday, May 17, 2009, Picnic and Parade day, Park Ridge, Illinois
We had our meeting in the New Prospects store. After this we we all walked through the park to Wayne and Marlis Barton’s Victorian home where I had arranged for a tour. Wayne is a premier, world famous, chip carver. His home is a virtual museum exhibition of his artwork.
Several walked in the parade. In the meantime, Mary Lou and Dorothy, as in previous years, monitored our sales table. Additional help came later from those walking in the parade. Thanks so much, ladies!

Saturday, February 21, 2009, Norwegian sweater day, at Geneva, Illinois
We decided to have a new location for our meeting – The Geneva History Center – and a fun and exciting inter-active, inspirational program that stirred everyone up with fun and laughter.
After Conversation and Coffee we held our General meeting. The inter-active activity -- which proved that learning can be fun -- was enjoyed be all.

Sunday, May 18, 2008 , at the 17th of May Parade in Park Ridge, Illinois
At 10:00 a.m. we set up our picnic area and sales table in Hodges Park. At 10:30 a.m. we walked across Prospect Ave. to New Prospects Clothing Store where we had our meeting. We Marched in the Parade wearing a bunad or a Norwegian sweater and brought a piece of our rosemaling to exhibit as we walked. Some stayed back at our booth and promoted and sold raffle tickets, general rosemaling items, or Ornaments of the Year. After the Parade we had some lunch back at our food table, helped out at our booth, checked out the vendors, and participated in the Grand March. It was a great day!

at the Covenant Church in Villa Park.

Our meeting was full of lively discussion. A rosemaling show update was given.
A demonstration followed: “Painting with Acrylics” with our very own Catherine Jean Coy. How Cathy works with acrylics was truly something to see. Even those who never plan to paint in acrylics enjoyed watching Cathy paint and her use the various techniques she employs. It was a real treat.
Then we previewed lots of new books that will be sold at our show.

our INRA librarian and resident expert on Viking art and history, Dr. Vera Littlejohn , presented a long-awaited program on Viking culture.
After the program we enjoyed a pot-luck lunch.

September, 2006 at the Firehouse, Newark, IL
After our business meeting, our very own Holly Green led a discussion about pricing our rosemaled items. The results of this discussion have been published in the February edition of the 2007 INRA Newsletter - Avisen. (Join the INRA now and you will receive this edition.) After the program we enjoyed a pot-luck lunch.

Once again we had a kofte day. Almost everyone wore a Norwegian sweater. Dr. Charles Peterson, Dean at North Park University and an expert on Scandinavian culture, spoke about the Sami people and culture.

September, 2005 at the Firehouse, Newark, IL
After our business meeting, our very own Norwegian expert, Lynn Søve Maxson who spent the summer in Norway studying at the University of Oslo, spoke to us. After the program we enjoyed a pot-luck lunch.

February, 2005 Meeting at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Villa Park, Illinois

Once again we had a kofte day. Almost everyone wore a Norwegian sweater. A talk Titled "Norway in 1905" was given by Dr. Charles Peterson, Dean at North Park University and an expert on Scandinavian culture.

September, 2004 Meeting at the Fire House in Newark, Illinois
Our September General Meeting was a pot-luck luncheon at the Firehouse in Newark, llinois. A talk and demonstration were given by Margaret Knutson about her career in the millinery business. We all wore hats. What fun!

May, 2004 Meeting at the Brickton Art Gallery in Park Ridge, Illinois

We heard a reports from our various committees and discussed the upcoming Rosemaling Show and Sale. There were gifts for "first timers".
After the meeting we enjoyed a picnic lunch in Hodges Park, listened to the pre-parade entertainment and watched the Parade when it came by.
Several INRA members marched in the parade while others took turns selling rosemaled items at our table in the park.

February, 2004 Meeting at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Villa Park, Illinois
It was the return of kotfe day. Dr. Charles Peterson, Dean, Center for Scandinavian Studies at North Park University, spoke on the history and culture of Norway. His comments on contemporary Norwegian society were especially interesting.

September, 2003 Meeting at the Fire House in Newark, Illinois

During the business meeting We heard a report on our recent rosemaling show, voted on a bylaws amendment, and elected our new officers.
Lynn Søve Maxson gave a talk on how we can use Norwegian sayings in our rosemaling. She helped us with the translations and gave us ideas for our future projects. We held another garage sale, selling the unpainted wooden items we knew we would never get around to painting, but someone else might.
A delicious potluck luncheon was enjoyed by all.
Our permanent art collection, housed and displayed in the museum in Norway, IL, was just a short distance from Newark. Some in attendance took time at the end of the meeting to go and see it.

May, 2003 Meeting at the Brickton Art Gallery in Park Ridge, Illinois

The May general meeting was held on Sunday, May 18, 2003, in Park Ridge, IL. in conjunction with the Parade, celebrating Norway's Constitution Day.
The INRA met in the Brickton Art Gallery. We were unable to conduct our business meeting because only two officers were present. The library was available to our members. We marched in the Syttende Mai Parade, held our annual picnic in Hodges Park, and sold rosemaled items and raffle tickets.

February 15, 2003, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Villa Park, IL.
Our meeting had the theme of Kofte (sweater) Day. Everyone was encouraged to wear a Norwegian sweater. After a brief business meeting we were delighted by a presentation from Eric Pilling about the sweater company Dale of Norway.We conducted our February Business Meeting. We listened to a fascinating presentation by Eric Pilling on the history of Dale of Norway, the procedure for manufacturing their special wool used to knit these fine quality sweaters, and the method behind designing the traditional as well as the more contemporary Norwegian sweater patterns. At the close of the meeting those in attendance were able to purchase sweaters, and also received coupons for %50 OFF purchases at the Dale of Norway Factory Store in Kenosha, WI.
